MBSE enabled architecture development for comms satellite constellation
MBSE • Orbit Analysis • Scientific Writing
- Created an MBSE framework for architecture development of a large-scale communication satellite constellation supporting a lunar base
- Model development & maintenance (requirement, behaviour, activity and parametric diagrams)
- Interfaced with Ansys STK for efficient return of coverage, latency and handover parameters to support requirement verification
- First author paper accepted at AIAA ASCEND ‘25. Read paper here
Key Question: You create a RFP for communication services to your base. How do you independently verify the submitted proposals against your requirements?
Design and optimization of a Chandrayaan-2 inclusive lunar constellation
Constellation Design • Orbit Analysis • MDAO • Scientific Writing
- Developed initial constellation design with the Chandrayaan 2 as the primary node, through Walker Delta and Slotting techniques
- Optimized for coverage, latency and handover time using Particle Swarm and multi-objective methods
- First author paper accepted at IAC ‘25. Read paper here
Key Question: How can we extend existing lunar capabilities (the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter) for global lunar coverage?
Probabilistic Design of Lunar Lander Leg
DoE • FEA analysis • Uncertainty Quantification • Scientific Writing
- Based on initial leg concept, performed a Design of Experiments assessment followed by automated ABAQUS simulations to output leg deformation, compressive and tensile loading (at landing time)
- Trained neural networks based on DoE outputs, which were then run through a Monte Carlo simulation to generate predictive profiles
- Design parameter (footpad radius, thickness and strut length) recommendations were made based on available feasible design space
- First author paper accepted at IAC ‘25. Read paper here
Key Question: How can we perform a more thorough analysis of the lander design space to satisfy multi-objective merit criteria?
Modelling of Aircraft Fleet with infusion of emission reduction enablers
Fleet Modelling • Uncertainty Quantification • Scientific Writing
- Led a 5-member team through literature review, modelling, and GUI representation of CO2 emissions from a hypothetical future aircraft fleet infused with enablers such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and Advanced Aircraft Concepts
- Assisted in the development of a preliminary uncertainty quantification study using Monte Carlo simulations to measure the confidence levels of the impact metrics generated by the model
- Created additional functionality to mathematically output secondary fleet impact metrics - land area usage and water usage, to gain a well-rounded understanding of the merits of the enablers
- Second author paper presented at AIAA SciTech '24. Read paper here
Key Question: How can we make more informed strategy and policy decisions to adopt newer technologies and operations into our fleet?
engineering experience
Systems Safety Engineer @ Wisk Aero
FHA/FTA • ARP 4761 • STPA • Root Cause Analysis
- As Safety Focal for the aircraft’s battery system, led assessments such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) and parts of Preliminary Systems Safety Assessment (PSSA) - fault tree, common mode, FDAL/IDAL
- Provided safety inputs and put forth safety perspective in several aircraft system trade studies, specifically pertaining to power distribution and power budget
- Created a system safety assessment framework to analyse complex human-machine interactions in the Wisk autonomous aircraft via exploration of STPA and Dynamic Bayesian Analysis techniques.
Mechanical & Test Engineer @ Manastu Space
CAD Modeling • Test Planning • V&V • Data Analysis
- Spearheaded the design, development, and project planning of a rubber-based propellant management device (bladder) for the spherical tank of 1 N thruster system for small satellites.
- Performed trade studies on currently existing bladder technology and completed 3 prototype CAD designs that were fabricated and tested. Assisted in the PDR of the chosen design.
